Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut Launches Action Network to Meet Urgent Community Needs

Extends mission to provide Connecticut residents with emergency assistance

Bridgeport, CT (February 22, 2017) – Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut has launched a new Action Network to advance its mission of helping more Connecticut residents achieve greater self-sufficiency and independence through job training and other support services. By accessing the new Goodwill Action Network, non-profit agencies, schools, and social service agencies now have the ability to request $20 Goodwill gift cards, so they have a greater opportunity to address the temporary and emergency needs of their clients.

“Goodwill is beholden to our donors and other stakeholders to focus on, be effective in, and to advance our mission. Some of our supporters appreciate that Goodwill can assist people with needs that may be outside the scope of our mission,” said Vickie Volpano, President, and CEO, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut.  “While we cannot be all things to all people, we are a charitable organization and part of a generous and caring community. Through our new Goodwill Action Network, we are answering this call to help people access a hand-up when it is needed most by collaborating with community partners.”

Gift cards can be used at any store operated by Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut, and provide clients with the dignity of choice when shopping for clothing, shoes, and household items. The program is open to interested organizations that are located within Goodwill's service territory in Fairfield, Litchfield, Hartford, Tolland, New Haven and Windham counties.
