MILFORD, CT — Popular Musician Andy Grammer will be performing an exclusive show at John F. Kennedy School on Thursday after pupils won a statewide content that benefits clients of Goodwill.
The private performance will be for staff and students and will occur 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10. For those who want to watch it online you can do so via WTIC's 96.5 Facebook page.
"We are pleased to announce John F. Kennedy Elementary was the WINNER of the 3rd Annual "Bag it Up for Goodwill" Challenge," said Milford Public Schools spokeswoman Kathryn Bonetti. "The JFK school community collected 58,940 ITEMS to support Goodwill during their recent challenge period. This equates to 20,000 pounds of clothing and households items that will now be kept out Connecticut landfills – the equivalent of filling up an ENTIRE school bus.
All of the items will be recycled and sold in Goodwill stores
across the state. The money raised from their sale helps Goodwill
fulfill its mission of strengthening communities, especially by helping
people with disabilities gain independence through job training and by
providing other support services. Thanks to the efforts of JFK, alone,
Goodwill will be able to help 144 of our Connecticut neighbors with
their goal of finding a job," Bonetti added.
Grammer will perform a selection of his top hits in a closed-campus setting – just for the students and staff of JFK, Bonetti said. Only staff and students will be allowed on school grounds on Thursday.
"Safety at our school is our top priority and tomorrow's event is no exception. We are taking all necessary precautions, working in conjunction with our local agencies and district officials to ensure the safety and security of our school during this event," Bonetti said.
